As I was getting out of my car the other day, I saw a very colorful laminated plastic wrapper. To my surprise, it was one that we designed and produced for our customer!

Then, I became intrigued by this ice cream sandwich and decided to go into Winn Dixie (the parking lot where the wrapper was found) to search for this Bocadito Ice Cream Sandwich. As I entered the freezer section, I was even more suprised to see that an entire freezer shelf had been dedicated to Bocadito’s Strawberry, Vanilla, and Chocolate flavors.

This customer is a small, local company that has been making ice cream in Miami for many years. They first started purchasing pre-printed bags from us for their ice cream sandwiches, and then later, decided to invest in a fully automatic horizontal flow wrapper once production volumes were increasing. And now, we supply them specially-laminated film designed to keep their ice cream sandwiches fresh. Here is a quick video of their machine in action:

At Packaging Center we love having new customers bring us different products and challenges.

Today, we had a customer bring us an entire lobster that was still fresh in a tube full of ice.
He asked if we could vacuum package the lobster for him…and here is the result.

The challenging part is to vacuum package the lobster without crushing some of the more fragile parts
and also maintaining the vacuum so that the lobster’s antennae do not puncture the vacuum pouch.

Speaking of vacuum pouches, we have over 20 different sizes in stock. Please note that these
are not just normal plastic bags. They consist of special laminations which act as excellent oxygen barriers.

We just received our first shipment of the new BOX Pouches!

They have a revolutionary design that will surely be a hit on store shelves. Their completely flat bottom is the most important distinguishing factor, and they really do have a commanding presence when standing up.

Since this is a very new design, very few companies have incorporated this new packaging into their product lines, but there will definitely be more in the near future. I went to the local supermarket last weekend, and I saw that Sunsweet already used the box pouch for their prunes. It’s a truly attractive design, and all our customers have commented on how good it looks. And by the way, these taste amazing too!

Furthermore, we have had a few female customers tell us how “cute” our smaller box pouches are. We specifically designed the ones we carry for our stock to have a ferris-wheel type of see-through feature so that your customers can see your product.
